acc logoACC is proud to announce a new partnership relationship with CommonAge to promote and disseminate learning, experience and best practice in aged care services in Commonwealth countries.

This partnership builds on ACC’s existing relationships with key members of CommonAge and the organisation’s approach to collaboration for innovation and better practice initiatives.

ACC’s Group Chief Executive Officer Russell Bricknell said, “Australia and the UK are developing world leading capabilities in learning, delivery and design of what great care should look like.

“As part of our global commitment to learning, knowledge sharing and our mission for improving the quality of care for older people, this partnership will help our Australian and UK offices disseminate the expertise from our valued members, staff, subject matter experts and thought leaders and indeed the older people we are lucky to work with.

CommonAge’s latest initiative is its scholarship fund which has enabled 15 professional colleagues from developing countries of the Commonwealth to attend the Aged & Community Services Australia (ACSA) and International Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing (IAHSA) National Conference being held in Perth 30 August – 3 September.

“Most of the big international networking opportunities like IAHSA and INIA (International Institute on Ageing) are hosted in western countries which of course come with western prices for conference registration and travel and accommodation,” said CommonAge chairman, Mr Andrew Larpent OBE.

“There simply isn’t the funding within the aged care sectors of most developing countries to support the costs of these kind of professional development opportunities.

Our scholarship initiative is not only enabling the participation of aged care professionals who otherwise would simply not be able to, it is introducing all these people to the IAHSA international network and thereby supporting IAHSA to really broaden that network beyond its usual boundaries.”

The IAHSA/ACSA conference will be a unique opportunity to share knowledge and meet global leaders in aged care, research, technology and design from more than 30 countries.
