Advocacy

We are advocating to ensure older people are fully recognised in society, and are supported and enabled to live well in an all-age friendly commonwealth

Our work

We influence government and other organisations across the Commonwealth, and bring people together to make a change

Commonwealth accreditation

As an accredited Commonwealth organisation, we are in a position to lobby Commonwealth governments and network and work other accredited organisations

Setting standards

Through our partnership with Standards Wise International, we are working to enable government, peak and industry bodies and organisations to regulate sectors and benchmark against developmental indicators.

Ambassadors

An essential part of our networks, our Ambassadors support our objectives and commit time and energy to the promotion of these objectives in their countries

Intergenerational activities

Bringing the generations together

By bringing the generations together, we are encouraging mutual respect and understanding.

Inclusion

Stop ageism

Our White Paper revealed how COVID-19 has exposed the urgent need for further recognition and protection of the rights of older people in Commonwealth countries.

Through CommonAge, I have been afforded the opportunity to tell the story of Ageing in South Africa. I have met wonderful and inspiring colleagues from across the world who have been extraordinary in sharing their knowledge and generous with their support. I have grown in my resolve to take forward the ageing agenda as we work towards a society for all ages.

CEO, The Association for The Aged (TAFTA), South Africa

“As I now sit back and reflect on social and culture wellbeing through the CommonAge Life stories, which my organisation participated and having networked with “Oomph!” team [at the CommonAge Elders Forum], I have come up with an idea to start a proper exercise centre in my facilities which will also boost the social interaction between the youth and the older persons.

“My newly made friends through the networking in the conference has given me support and encouragement in this sometimes lonely venture, which even in my local village I feel well set to continue advocating for Elderly skilled care, which sometimes is met with misconceptions. My community has created more trust and I’m sure this will go a long way to making this program successful,”
