The countdown to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) later this month has begun! Held every two years, this year the beautiful island state of Malta is the host for Commonwealth countries to come together to build bridges of cooperation.

The theme for this year’s event is Commonwealth – Adding Global Value. Adding Global Value is about using the Commonwealth’s strengths in international politics to influence and eventually effect change on important global issues. It is also about making a positive difference to the lives of Commonwealth citizens. Adding Global Value seeks to unify the Commonwealth behind an ambitious policy agenda that bequeaths to our young a life of liberty, dignity and prosperity. Besides, considering its geographical extent around the globe, actions and initiatives taken at Commonwealth level will undoubtedly add to global values.

We are delighted that CommonAge will be represented by three Board members at CHOGM: our Chairman Andrew Larpent, and board members Judy Martin and Sharon Blackburn.

At CHOGM, Andrew, Judy and Sharon will participate in programs such as the Commonwealth People’s Forum (CPF), which brings together civil society representatives from around the world to discuss and debate key issues facing Commonwealth people.

This forum has several sessions, but the ‘Building resilient health systems for an ageing population‘ is of particular relevance.

It’s exciting times for CommonAge and our presence at CHOGM will greatly help us as we work towards the formal accreditation of CommonAge as a fully recognised member within the Commonwealth community.
