We are delighted Dr Sheilu Sreenivasan M.A; Ph.D from India accepted our scholarship offer to attend the IAHSA/ACSA conference in Perth next week.
Dr Sreenivasan is the founder President of two Indian NGOs: Dignity Foundation for providing support services to senior citizens and Dignity Lifestyle Retirement Township , a residential facility for healthy individuals aged over 55 as well as assisted living quarters for the ailing.
A pioneer in the aged care forum, Dr Sreenivasan spoke about ageing twenty years ago when the phenomenon of ageing was hardly talked about in India. She highlighted India’s changing family structures and the need for instituting support services specially addressing the needs of senior citizens.
Dr Sreenivasan has since set up Dignity Foundation chapters in seven cities an was inducted into policy making bodies at the governmental level. She was awarded the highest national honour for economic leadership in the field of Ageing in India: the Vayoshreshta Samman.
