We are looking forward to meeting Mr. Olayinka Ajomale, the Executive Secretary of African Gerontological Society AGES Nigeria and Executive Director, Centre on Ageing, Development and Rights of Older Persons to the IAHSA/ACSA conference in Perth next week. Mr Ajomale holds a master’s degree in Social Work from University of Ibadan, is a registered social worker in Nigeria, Canada and the UK and is also Secretary of the Board of Trustees of AGES.
Having worked with older persons for over a decade, Mr Ajomale has a wealth of experience which includes conducting research, providing services and creating awareness on the challenges of old age in an economy in transition with increasing population of older persons.
In 2010 Mr Ajomale was appointed by the Court of Protection UK to head the social care team of 82 year old British Nigerian brought back from 52 years sojourn in the UK. He served as Field Project Coordinator for Nigeria on the Oxford Institute of Ageing/Wellcome Trust Research Project and was Coordinator for Nigeria, MIPAA 2012.
Mr Ajomale was Help the Aged Fellow 2006 at Oxford Institute of Ageing, is a member of professional bodies such as African Research on Ageing Network and he was Co-Representative for Africa 2008-2010 of International Network on Prevention of Elder Abuse.
He is presently coordinating the establishment of Nigerian Society of Geriatrics & Gerontology.
