Ms Emily Ajiambo from Uganda has accepted our scholarship to join delegates at the IAHSA/ACSA conference, 30 August – 3 September in Perth.
She has a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences majoring in gender and development and social administration from Makerere University. Before studying a post graduate diploma in project planning and management from the Uganda Management Institute, Ms Ajiambo took a course in community based rehabilitation for persons with disabilities and she is currently studying for a Master of Science in Gerontology from the University of Southampton, UK.
Ms Ajiambo has worked with the community as a community development officer where she gained experience in community mobilisation and community empowerment. Since 2011, she has been working with the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development as a senior gerontologist in the Department of Disability and Elderly. The Department is responsible for formulation of laws, policies and guidelines that guide stakeholders in the implementation of interventions geared towards improving lives of older persons.
